Brand Ambassador Coop Tour: The Mermaid and The Sailor Farm

Today we are visiting The Mermaid and The Sailor Farm located in New Bern, NC. They specialize in Olive Eggers and Black Ameraucanas, of which you can see just how lovely they are as we watch her take us through her coop.
Chicken Castle
This chicken coop tour is led by Emily who retrofitted a gifted 12×9 Leonard Shed and turned it into a chicken castle. Inside of the shed you find some beautiful driftwood roosting bars and then on the sides she has her nesting area hung up. It is cute to see that a chicken did not appreciate her beautiful nesting box areas, but instead wanted to try to hide in the corner to lay her egg.
Chicken Run
Once outside of the coop there is a well built large chicken run built of chain link dog kennel panels. Emily’s chickens have the benefits of a very nice large and well protected area in which to wander. Wooden posts double as both a support for their covered netting for the run as well as providing an area for chickens to roost if they so choose. There is a section of the run also created for younger chickens before they are able to fully integrate into the flock, a great way to integrate new chickens into your existing flock.
I don’t know about you, but I certainly feel inspired with ideas for how I would like to make some changes in my own chicken run after enjoying this Meyer Hatchery Brand Ambassador Chicken Coop Tour with The Mermaid & The Sailor Farm!
