Brand Ambassador Coop Tour: Chicken in the Woods Farm

Today we are visiting with Steph from Chicken in the Woods Farm, home to 84 birds, located in the backwoods of Central Florida.

As you can probably guess, her chicken area is surrounded by trees which gives Steph a piece of mind as the trees offer her flock protection from wind, weather and reduces visibility for predators. Throughout Chicken in the Woods Farm you can see such a beautiful variety of chickens, guineas and heritage turkeys.

Main Coop

For the main coop, Steph utilizes quite a nice medium sized shed that is a very comfortable looking chicken coop. It even has some pretty neat wall hangings to provide quite a wonderful chicken home. It has a wonderful amount of natural light with the protection of windows covered in hardware cloth.  Chickens are free to come and go and spend their days free ranging among the Azalea bushes and Palmettos.

Turkey Coop

Her beautiful turkeys get to enjoy a nice section of a shed located on the back side of the main coop.  This area provides them with great protection from the weather and very nice, sturdy, heavy-duty roosts for them to sleep on at night.

Feed and Feeders

Chicken feed is kept in a lockable weatherproof container next to a very neat well organized chicken husbandry area. A hose is hooked up to a sink to make a nice work area. This allows Steph to have access to clean water for ease of cleaning and refilling waterers.

Throughout her set up you can see some wonderful covered feeders that help to keep feed dry and protected while enjoyed by the free ranging birds. Objects are located throughout the runs, which also add to protection from predators as birds can duck under them if they feel threatened. Many places exist for Steph to sit and watch her beautiful birds enjoy their day or as they enjoy some time spent in their dust baths.

The more you follow this coop tour, I am sure you will agree, what a wonderful well-thought-out poultry paradise.
