Benefits of a Mobile Coop

Raising your flock in a mobile coop can provide many benefits to both your land and your flock! Let’s talk about some of the perks and advantages you can expect from choosing one.

Land
Using a mobile coop can have some excellent effects on your land and how fertile your soil is. Chickens naturally fertilize the land with their waste and aerate it while they are scratching for snacks. Chickens love eating bugs and weeds, so they become a natural source of pest control as well! Another great benefit to your land is the prevention of overgrazing! By moving your coop regularly, you decrease soil compaction as well.
Flock
A mobile coop allows your flock access to a never-ending supply of fresh bugs and plants! Not only is this wonderful for their health, but it can really help cut back on that feed bill as well. Moving the mobile coop regularly can help prevent the buildup of parasites like worms, lice, and mites in the coop and run area naturally. Providing such a wide range in their diet and so much new stimulation from being moved frequently, you can expect happier and healthier birds, with a lower risk of diseases. Mobile coops can also ensure a safe area for your flock while allowing them to roam and forage freely, reducing the risk of loss to predators. While a secure structure is still important, moving your coop frequently can help deter predators.
You
One of my favorite perks of using a mobile chicken coop is the minimal cleaning required. Yes, you do still have to clean the inside of the coop and the nesting boxes. However, having no floor means there is no bedding to clean or poop to scrape from that area. Having a mobile coop also gives you the ability to take your coop with you if you move, and it is ideal for those who rent and aren’t able to build a permanent structure. Raising your chickens in mobile coops can provide higher quality meat and eggs, with a better flavor and increased nutrient content, such as omega-3 fatty acids.

These are just some of the benefits you can expect from raising your flock in a mobile coop. While it’s not for everyone, we find it’s a wonderful way to raise your birds.
