As we celebrate 40 years of Meyer Hatchery in 2025, it’s the perfect moment to reflect on the defining milestones that have shaped our journey. From our humble beginnings in Polk, Ohio, to becoming America’s Premier Poultry Source, our story is woven with threads of growth, resilience, and innovation. See our blog posts on the History of Meyer Hatchery: Vol 1, 2, and 3.
Expanding Our Flock
Meyer Hatchery has always been dedicated to meeting the evolving needs of our customers. Our breed offerings have expanded dramatically over the years. By the 2008 hatching season, we proudly surpassed 120 breeds, and by 2011, we reached the impressive milestone of over 160 breeds!
Our commitment to excellence is reflected in our continuously improving policies that exceed industry standards and keep customers returning year after year. In 2019, we introduced our 100% Sexing Guarantee, allowing customers to order with confidence, knowing they can rely on us for accurate gender selection. That same year, we also implemented leg banding for hard-to-identify and select rare breeds, simplifying identification for both new and seasoned poultry owners.
Improvements in Technology and Customer Connections
In 2014, we launched our chat feature, revolutionizing how we connect with customers. This real-time communication improves the customer experience, allowing poultry enthusiasts to receive immediate support and guidance at their fingertips. Now, customers can reach us via email, text, chat, or phone – seven days a week!
In March 2020, we transitioned our customer service team to a fully remote model. This shift maintained our commitment to exceptional service while fostering flexibility during challenging times. Our first remote employee, Meghan Howard, played a crucial role in establishing this remote department back in June 2016, led the 100% full customer service remote shift in 2020, and continues to lead the way today.
A Fresh Look For Our Brand
In the spring of 2020, we introduced a fresh new box design for our chick orders that we still use and love today. Fast forward to the 2021 hatching season, when we unveiled a significant upgrade to our website. Designed with user experience in mind, this new platform allows customers to explore our diverse selection of poultry effortlessly. Real-time inventory updates ensure that ordering from our extensive stock is not only simple but also reliable – customers can now confidently shop What’s Hatching without a hitch.
Looking Ahead: Our Commitment to the Future
As we step into the future, we remain rooted in the values that have guided us for four decades. Meyer Hatchery continues to be a woman-owned and led business, dedicated to serving our community of poultry enthusiasts. Our passionate team is ready to assist you through every stage of your poultry journey, providing valuable insights and guidance.
Join us as we look forward to what lies ahead – excited for new possibilities and deeply grateful for the memories we’ve created together along the way. Thank you for being an essential part of our story!
