Celebrate Fall and Boktober by Carving This Easy “Chicken O’ Lantern”!
Nothing says October like carved pumpkins. Why not put a fun spin on your carving this year by making your own Chicken O’Lantern. Not artistic? Don’t worry, we have a pattern below you can download!
Tools You Will Need:
- Medium Size Pumpkin
- Bowl
- Carving Knife (under adult supervision)
- Paper Towels
- Toothpick
- Tape
- Pumpkin Carving Template (print me!)
- Newspaper
- Large Spoon
Follow These Simple Steps:
Step 1:
Setup your workspace. Use the newspaper to work on. Make sure your pumpkin is clean of any dirt and dry. Make sure your tools are easily accessible, and paper towels are ready.
Step 3:
Scoop the Goop. Now is time to clean out your pumpkin. You can use a large spoon or your hands to clean out the pulp and seeds from your pumpkin. Save the seeds for you to enjoy or give the pulp and seeds to your chickens. The seeds are very good for your chickens and they will love the treat
Step 4:
Transferring the Template. Transfer the template to the pumpkin. You can cut around the template within an inch of the design. Taping the design in place helps during the transfer. Using a toothpick poke through your template into the pumpkin, making little dots to trace the design. When you are done you will have an outline transferred right onto your pumpkin.
